Sligo University Hospital, part of HSE West and North West, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (Colposcopy) to join its dedicated nursing and midwifery team. This is a permanent whole-time opportunity to advance your career in specialist nursing while making a direct impact on women’s health services in the region.

About the Role

This post offers a unique opportunity for a nurse to train and develop into the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist in Colposcopy. Working under the guidance of the Director of Midwifery, you will provide expert clinical care, support best practice in women’s health, and contribute to service development within colposcopy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within the Colposcopy service
  • Support clinical assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective care
  • Participate in audit, research, and service improvement initiatives
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Contribute to the professional development of nursing colleagues
  • Uphold HSE quality, safety, and governance standards

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (General, Midwifery, or relevant division) with the NMBI
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration clinical experience
  • Demonstrated interest in women’s health/colposcopy nursing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in women’s health or related specialty
  • Experience in specialist outpatient or gynaecology services
  • Knowledge of audit, research, and clinical governance processes
