Cork University Hospital (CUH), part of HSE South West, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate to join our specialized Children’s Complex Disabilities team in Wilton, Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver expert paediatric nursing care in a leading Irish hospital, with both permanent and specified purpose contracts available.

About the Role

This specialized Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate position focuses on providing advanced nursing care to children with complex disabilities at Cork University Hospital. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based care and supporting children and their families through complex health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized nursing assessment and interventions for children with complex disabilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, therapists, and social workers
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for paediatric patients with complex needs
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert advice on children’s complex disability management
  • Support and educate families in managing complex care requirements at home
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage in continuous professional development and evidence-based practice in paediatric complex care

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN) qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience in paediatric nursing
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with complex disabilities or complex healthcare needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children and families
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate qualification in paediatric nursing or related specialty
  • Experience in acute hospital paediatric settings
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures and family-centered care approaches
  • Previous work with multidisciplinary teams in complex care environments
