Children’s Health Ireland is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNM2 Grade) in Diabetes to join its specialist paediatric team in Dublin South. This Clinical Nurse Specialist Diabetes Dublin opportunity offers a dynamic role supporting children and young people living with diabetes, delivering expert clinical care, education and service development.
This is a specified purpose wholetime contract within a publicly funded Section 38 organisation operating within the HSE Dublin and Midlands region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for children and young people with diabetes.
- Deliver evidence-based diabetes education and self-management support to patients and families.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and high-quality care pathways.
- Support clinical governance, quality improvement and audit initiatives within the diabetes service.
- Act as a clinical resource and educator for nursing and healthcare staff.
- Participate in service planning, development and policy implementation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold best practice standards in line with national guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in a relevant specialist area.
- Demonstrated experience in diabetes care within a paediatric or acute setting.
- Postgraduate qualification in diabetes nursing or related specialty (or commitment to undertake same).
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, teaching and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary aligned to Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade Code 2119) on the February 2026 HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Current salary scale (from 1 February 2026): €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI), pro rata where applicable.
- Specified Purpose Wholetime contract.
