Galway University Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis/Bronchiectasis – Adult Service to join its specialist Respiratory Medicine team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse to advance their career within a nationally recognised acute hospital setting while delivering expert care to adults with complex respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist nursing expertise in the management of adult patients with Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis.
  • Deliver evidence-based respiratory care and coordinate multidisciplinary interventions.
  • Act as a clinical resource and advocate for patients and families.
  • Support service development initiatives within the Respiratory Medicine department.
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.
  • Contribute to patient education, self-management planning, and discharge coordination.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered as a Nurse on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of post registration nursing experience in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Clinical experience relevant to Cystic Fibrosis and/or Bronchiectasis care.
  • Have undertaken or agree to undertake, within an agreed timeframe, the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Salary is aligned with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 pay scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025 revision) .

Working hours are based on a wholetime contract arrangement.

The role forms part of the HSE West and North West region, covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway.
