The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s public healthcare provider, delivering comprehensive health and social care services to communities across the country. We are currently seeking a dedicated Community Mental Health Nurse to join our Clinical Nurse Specialist team in Louth and Meath.
About the Role
This is an exciting permanent wholetime opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse to work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within our community mental health services across Louth and Meath. You will play a vital role in delivering specialist nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges in their community settings, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing assessment, care planning, and intervention for individuals with mental health needs in community settings across Louth and Meath
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and support to service users and their families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate when required and achieve registration as a Registered Nurse Prescriber (RNP) within an agreed timeframe
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized care plans that promote recovery and wellbeing
- Collaborate with primary care teams, hospital services, and community organizations to ensure seamless care coordination
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff within the mental health service
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Registration on the Active Register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) with Mental Health Nursing division
- Post-registration clinical experience in mental health nursing services
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in mental health nursing
- Willingness to undertake Nurse Prescribing qualification and become a Registered Nurse Prescriber
- Full clean driving license and access to own transport for community travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-graduate qualification in mental health nursing or related specialty
- Experience working in community mental health settings
- Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or in an advanced practice role
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse Prescriber (RNP)
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented approaches and evidence-based mental health interventions
