Job Overview
The successful candidate will work within the Peri-Operative Directorate at University Hospital Limerick, supporting the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of specialised pain management services. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient comfort, promote evidence-based clinical practice, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing care and expertise in pain management services.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients experiencing acute or chronic pain.
- Develop and implement individualised pain management plans.
- Support evidence-based practice and clinical governance initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
- Deliver patient and family education regarding pain management strategies.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting standards.
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement programmes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Relevant clinical experience within acute nursing and pain management services.
- Strong knowledge of pain assessment and management techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
- Experience in leadership, education, or clinical audit is desirable.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist salary scales and relevant public sector agreements.
