HSE Dublin and North East is seeking a dedicated Clinical Placement Coordinator to join our Mental Health Services team in Cavan Monaghan. This permanent wholetime role offers an excellent opportunity to support nursing education and clinical training in a dynamic mental health care environment.

About the Role

The Clinical Placement Coordinator will play a vital role in coordinating and facilitating nursing and midwifery clinical placements within Mental Health Services across the Cavan Monaghan community healthcare area. You’ll work closely with clinical teams, educational institutions, and nursing students to ensure high-quality learning experiences that support the development of future mental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all clinical placement activities for nursing and midwifery students within Mental Health Services
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with educational institutions and clinical areas to facilitate effective student placements
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of clinical learning environments to ensure they meet educational standards
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to both students and clinical staff during placement periods
  • Develop and implement clinical placement policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements
  • Monitor student progress and address any placement-related issues or concerns promptly
  • Facilitate communication between educational institutions, clinical staff, and students regarding placement arrangements
  • Organize orientation programs for students entering clinical placements in mental health settings

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience, with significant experience in mental health nursing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing education and clinical teaching methodologies
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills with ability to manage multiple placements simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for liaison with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in education, mentorship, or healthcare-related field
  • Previous experience in clinical placement coordination or nursing education
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for nursing education and clinical practice
  • Experience working in community mental health services
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
