HSE Dublin and South East is seeking a dedicated Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our innovative Centre of Obesity Management at St Columcilles Hospital, Loughlinstown. About the Role
This Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist position focuses on providing expert occupational therapy services within our Centre of Obesity Management. You will work as part of a specialized healthcare team, delivering evidence-based interventions to patients with obesity-related health conditions. The role involves clinical assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions specifically tailored to obesity management and associated comorbidities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for patients attending the Centre of Obesity Management
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing functional limitations related to obesity and associated conditions
- Provide specialized therapeutic interventions including activity modification, adaptive equipment training, and lifestyle adjustment strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including physicians, dietitians, physiotherapists, and nursing staff in obesity management care pathways
- Deliver patient and family education on occupational performance optimization and environmental modifications
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development within the obesity management program
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice development specific to obesity management
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent recognized qualification
- Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in occupational therapy practice
- Experience in clinical specialist practice, preferably in obesity management, chronic disease management, or related healthcare settings
- Strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant specialty area (obesity management, chronic disease, rehabilitation)
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in specialized healthcare environments
- Knowledge of obesity-related health conditions and therapeutic approaches
- Additional training in motivational interviewing or behavior change techniques
