The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin Mid Leinster is seeking an experienced Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join our Oncology Department at St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar. This is a permanent wholetime position offering 37 hours per week in one of Ireland’s leading cancer treatment facilities.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Consultant Radiation Oncologist to provide expert clinical leadership in radiation therapy treatments within our established oncology department. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive cancer care services to patients across the Dublin and Midlands region, reporting to the Network Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist radiation oncology services including treatment planning, delivery, and follow-up care for cancer patients
  • Lead clinical decision-making for complex radiation therapy cases within the multidisciplinary oncology team
  • Develop and implement treatment protocols using advanced radiotherapy techniques and technologies
  • Collaborate closely with medical oncologists, surgeons, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, NCHDs, and radiation therapy students in the department
  • Participate in oncology multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning
  • Engage in continuous professional development including research activities and clinical audit programs

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Medical degree and full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland
  • Higher specialist training in Radiation Oncology with appropriate Fellowship (FRCR, FFRRCSI or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years post-fellowship experience in radiation oncology practice
  • Expertise in modern radiotherapy techniques including IMRT, IGRT, and stereotactic treatments
  • Strong clinical leadership skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sub-specialty expertise in specific cancer types or advanced treatment techniques
  • Research experience with published work in peer-reviewed journals
  • Teaching and training experience with medical students or junior doctors
  • Quality improvement and clinical audit experience in radiation oncology services
