HSE Mid West is seeking an experienced Consultant Urologist to join the dedicated Urology Department at University Hospital Limerick. This is a permanent wholetime position offering exceptional career opportunities in one of Ireland’s leading regional hospitals serving the Mid West community.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Consultant Urologist to provide specialist urological services across University Hospital Limerick, serving patients throughout Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary. This permanent wholetime position offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team including robotic surgery capabilities under the leadership of Prof. Subhasis Giri, Head of Department of Urology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive urological consultation and treatment services for patients across the HSE Mid West region
- Deliver high-quality surgical interventions including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in emergency on-call services for urological cases
- Contribute to medical education and training programs for junior doctors and medical students
- Engage in clinical research and evidence-based practice development within the urology department
- Support quality improvement initiatives and adherence to clinical governance standards
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Medical Council Registration: Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in Urology
- Specialist Training: Completion of approved specialist training in Urology
- Clinical Experience: Demonstrated experience in urological surgery and patient management
- Professional Standing: Current professional registration and good standing with relevant medical authorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgical techniques
- Subspecialty expertise in areas such as oncological urology, reconstructive urology, or minimally invasive surgery
- Research experience and academic publications in urology
- Leadership or management experience in hospital settings
- Additional qualifications in medical education or clinical research
