Job Overview
This Dental Nurse Galway University Hospital position offers an excellent opportunity to join the Oral Maxillofacial Department within the Perioperative and Surgical Directorate. Working in a dynamic clinical environment, you will play a vital role in supporting dental and surgical teams while delivering high standards of patient care.
This post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is based in Galway University Hospital, serving patients across the HSE West and North West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dental surgeons and oral maxillofacial teams during clinical and surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain dental and surgical instruments in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Support patient care before, during, and after dental and oral surgery procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Ensure clinical areas are prepared, stocked, and maintained to required standards.
- Adhere to HSE policies, procedures, and professional guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the Perioperative and Surgical Directorate.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-qualification experience in Orthodontic, Oral Surgery, or Dental Nursing.
- Current registration on the Dental Council register of Dental Nurses (documentary evidence required and must be maintained for the duration of the post).
- Strong knowledge of infection control and clinical best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Commitment to high-quality patient-centred care.

- Salary in line with the HSE Dental Nurse Grade 6437 pay scale.
