Job Overview
The Director of Nursing 3 will provide strategic and operational leadership across all nursing services at Kilcreene Regional Orthopaedic Hospital. The post holder will ensure the highest standards of patient care, workforce development, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance in a specialist orthopaedic setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide professional and managerial leadership to nursing and midwifery staff
• Lead service planning, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, HSE policies, and statutory regulations
• Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and staff development
• Manage budgets and resource allocation effectively
• Promote patient safety, risk management, and clinical excellence
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within orthopaedic services
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse on the NMBI register
• Significant senior nursing management experience
• Proven leadership and organisational management capability
• Demonstrated experience in governance, quality and risk management
• Strong financial and workforce management skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Relevant postgraduate qualification (desirable)
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned to Director of Nursing Band 3 (Grade Code 2906) under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), ranging from €82,633 to €92,220 depending on point placement
