The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin and North East is seeking a Director of Nursing 4 (Person in Charge, Older Persons Services) to join the team in Cavan and Monaghan. This is a permanent, whole-time leadership role offering an exciting opportunity to influence and develop high-quality services for older persons across the region.
About the Role
As Director of Nursing 4 – Older Persons Services, you will take responsibility as Person in Charge, ensuring the highest standards of clinical governance, person-centred care, and regulatory compliance. This senior nursing leadership role involves managing resources effectively, leading staff teams, and promoting continuous improvement in older persons care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Older Persons Services in Cavan Monaghan.
- Act as Person in Charge, ensuring HIQA compliance and adherence to national policies and standards.
- Lead, support, and mentor nursing and care teams to deliver safe, compassionate, person-centred care.
- Manage staff resources, rosters, and budgets effectively to achieve service objectives.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives across older persons care services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to enhance care delivery.
- Report on performance, governance, and regulatory compliance to senior management.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-registration experience, including 2 years in a senior management role.
- Proven experience in the management of Older Persons Services or related care settings.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards, nursing governance, and person-centred care principles.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Gerontology, Health Service Management, or Leadership.
- Experience working across multi-site services.
- Evidence of leading quality improvement and change management initiatives.
