The Director of Nursing Band 4 Limerick position offers an exceptional leadership opportunity within Older Persons Residential Services in the HSE Mid West region. This permanent wholetime role is central to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and leading multidisciplinary teams across residential services in County Limerick.
As Director of Nursing Band 4, you will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care for older persons, while driving continuous service improvement and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership and management of nursing and care teams within Older Persons Residential Services.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with HSE policies and HIQA standards.
- Lead service planning, workforce development, and resource management initiatives.
- Oversee governance, risk management, and quality improvement programmes.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, senior management, residents, and families.
- Manage budgets and ensure effective utilisation of resources.
- Drive innovation and service transformation aligned with national healthcare strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant senior nursing management experience, ideally within older persons or residential care services.
- Proven leadership, organisational, and strategic management skills.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards, clinical governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and service improvement.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in management or healthcare leadership is desirable.

- Salary scale: €77,982 – €90,855 per annum (Director of Nursing Band 4, February 2026 consolidated pay scales).
