An exceptional senior leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Nursing and Midwifery for Professional Practice and Quality, based at Iveagh Buildings, Carrickmines, Dublin South. This permanent, whole-time role provides strategic leadership in advancing professional practice, governance, and quality across services within the Dublin and South East region.
This post plays a pivotal role in influencing standards of care, professional development, and patient safety across nursing and midwifery services, working closely with regional and national stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership for nursing and midwifery professional practice and quality
• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical governance frameworks
• Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Advise senior leadership on professional, regulatory, and quality matters
• Support workforce planning, education, and professional development strategies
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align regional and national priorities
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register
• Significant senior leadership experience within nursing or midwifery services
• Demonstrated expertise in professional practice, governance, and quality improvement
• Proven strategic leadership, change management, and influencing skills
• Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
• Postgraduate qualification relevant to leadership, management, or professional practice is desirable
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Director of Nursing Band 1 (General) – Grade Code 2903
• Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €94,717 – €110,518 per annum, depending on experience
• Contract: Permanent, whole-time
