Job Overview

The Driver Porter Galway position offers a rewarding opportunity to support patient and client transport services in South Connemara. This permanent part-time role (26.5 hours per fortnight) plays a vital role in ensuring safe, reliable transport and assistance for individuals accessing essential services.

Working within a publicly funded Section 38 organisation, you will contribute directly to high-quality care delivery across the HSE West and North West region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients and clients on public roads in accordance with assigned schedules.
  • Provide assistance to passengers during boarding, transit, and disembarkation.
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness, safety checks, and compliance with road safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate transport records and report incidents as required.
  • Support service staff in the coordination of daily transport activities.
  • Adhere to organisational policies, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Provide courteous and professional interaction with service users and colleagues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Full clean Category B driving licence (essential).
  • Previous experience in a transport, porter, or support role (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of road safety and transport regulations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to person-centred service delivery.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Driver (Patients / Clients Public Roads) 6132.
  • Salary aligned with Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (February 2026 revision).
  • Permanent part-time contract – 26.5 hours per fortnight.
  • Annual leave and public holiday entitlements on a pro-rata basis.

Location & Employer Information

This role is based in South Connemara, County Galway, within the HSE West and North West region.
