We are currently recruiting for a Grade VII Financial Analyst position at Wexford General Hospital in County Wexford. About the Role
This Grade VII Financial Analyst position is a key appointment within the Finance Department at Wexford General Hospital. The successful candidate will provide financial analysis, budgetary support, and decision-making insights to support effective resource allocation and financial governance within the hospital. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure optimal financial performance and compliance with HSE financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
- Monitor and report on financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
- Conduct detailed financial analysis of hospital operations, services, and projects to inform management decisions
- Support the annual budgeting process, including budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting across all hospital departments
- Collaborate with clinical and operational managers to provide financial guidance and support business planning initiatives
- Ensure compliance with HSE financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare financial presentations and briefing materials for senior management and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- A recognized third-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related finance role
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare clear reports
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Knowledge of public sector financial management principles and practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) or working towards qualification
- Experience in healthcare financial management or public sector finance
- Knowledge of HSE financial systems and reporting requirements
- Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis
- Understanding of healthcare service delivery and clinical operations
