Wexford General Hospital, part of the Health Service Executive (HSE), is seeking an experienced financial professional to join our finance team. This is a permanent, full-time Grade VII Financial Analyst position based at our Wexford facility, offering excellent career development opportunities within Ireland’s public healthcare system.

About the Role

This Grade VII Financial Analyst position plays a crucial role in financial management and analysis at Wexford General Hospital. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and work within a dynamic healthcare finance environment, supporting critical financial operations and strategic decision-making for hospital services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze detailed financial reports and budgets for hospital departments and services
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance against targets
  • Support the Finance Manager in monthly financial reporting and year-end processes
  • Assist in developing financial forecasts and business cases for service developments
  • Monitor expenditure patterns and identify opportunities for cost optimization
  • Liaise with department heads regarding budget management and financial queries
  • Ensure compliance with HSE financial regulations and public sector accounting standards

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant third-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial analysis or management accounting
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial functions
  • Excellent understanding of financial principles and budgeting processes
  • Strong communication skills for presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or part-qualified status
  • Previous experience in healthcare or public sector finance
  • Knowledge of HSE financial systems and procedures
  • Experience with financial management software and ERP systems
