Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism across Ireland. We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager specializing in Employee Relations to join our team in Waterford on a permanent wholetime basis.

About the Role

This is a senior HR leadership position focusing specifically on employee relations within our healthcare and social care organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex employee relations matters, providing strategic HR guidance, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation across our Waterford operations. You will report directly to senior management and play a crucial role in maintaining positive workplace relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations strategy including grievance handling, disciplinary procedures, and workplace conflict resolution
  • Manage complex employment law matters ensuring compliance with Irish employment legislation and HSE regulations
  • Provide expert HR advice to line managers and senior leadership on employee relations issues and workplace policies
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster positive workplace culture and staff retention
  • Oversee workplace investigations including conducting thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints
  • Negotiate with trade unions and staff representatives on employment-related matters and collective agreements
  • Design and deliver employee relations training programs for managers and supervisors across the organization

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Third level qualification in Human Resources, Business, or related field with professional HR certification (CIPD Level 7 or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in employee relations within healthcare, social care, or similar regulated environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish employment law including Industrial Relations Acts, Organisation of Working Time Act, and disability sector regulations
  • Proven experience managing disciplinary procedures, grievances, and workplace investigations with documented successful outcomes
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with experience dealing with trade unions and employee representatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced qualification in Employment Law or Industrial Relations (LLM, Masters, or professional certification)
  • Experience working within HSE or Section 38 organizations with understanding of public sector employment frameworks
  • Specialized training in mediation, workplace investigation techniques, or organizational development
  • Membership of professional HR bodies such as CIPD, IHRM, or Law Society Employment Law Committee
