St Luke’s General Hospital is seeking a Lead Midwife Kilkenny specialist to take on the role of Fetal Monitoring Clinical Skills Facilitator (Clinical Midwife Manager 2). This permanent wholetime position plays a critical leadership role in advancing fetal monitoring standards, education, and clinical safety across maternity services.
You will lead best practice initiatives, support midwifery staff development, and strengthen governance frameworks in line with HSE national maternity care priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate fetal monitoring education and training programmes
• Provide expert clinical guidance on cardiotocography (CTG) interpretation and intrapartum care
• Support implementation of national maternity safety standards and policies
• Facilitate clinical skills workshops and simulation training
• Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
• Contribute to audit, incident review, and risk management processes
• Mentor and support midwifery staff in clinical competency development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Midwife with active registration on the Midwives Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum required clinical experience in midwifery practice
• Demonstrated expertise in fetal monitoring and intrapartum care
• Experience in clinical education, facilitation, or staff development
• Leadership experience at Clinical Midwife Manager level or equivalent
• Strong communication, organisational, and governance skills

Grade: Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (Grade Code 2132)
Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 (LSI)
