Job Overview
This Maintenance Craftsman/Technical (Carpenter) role offers an excellent opportunity to join the Engineering Department at St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving healthcare facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for patients and staff. This position is part of the HSE Dublin North and East region, with potential opportunities across the wider service area.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out carpentry and general maintenance work across hospital facilities
- Maintain and repair building structures, fixtures, and fittings
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
- Assist in planned preventative maintenance programmes
- Work collaboratively with the wider Engineering and Maintenance team
- Support emergency maintenance and repair requirements as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised carpentry qualification or trade certification
- Relevant experience in maintenance or construction environments
- Strong understanding of health and safety standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving and organisational skills
- Flexibility to work across different HSE locations if required
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €42,065 – €48,369 per annum (pro rata where applicable)
Contract Types Available: Permanent (Full-time & Part-time) and Specified Purpose (Full-time & Part-time)

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in the Engineering Department at St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park, Chapelizod Road, Dublin 20, within the HSE Dublin North and East region. The post holder may also be required to work in other locations across the region depending on service needs.
