Mayo University Hospital is inviting applications for a Children’s Staff Nurse to join the Children’s Ward as part of a rolling external recruitment campaign. This is a specified purpose, part-time opportunity within HSE Children’s Services, supporting the delivery of high-quality, family-centred paediatric care.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to children in an acute hospital setting
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HSE policies
• Promote safeguarding, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
• Support parents and carers through education and communication
• Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical governance
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Children’s Nurse with NMBI (or eligibility to register)
• Minimum 1 year’s post-registration experience in a Children’s Ward within an acute hospital
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Children’s Nursing
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to family-centred care and professional standards
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Children’s Staff Nurse (Grade 2136) pay scales, effective August 2025
• Part-time hours under a specified purpose contract
