We’re seeking an experienced Oncology Registrar to join our specialized cancer care team at Mayo University Hospital for an immediate start wholetime fixed-term position.

About the Role

This Oncology Registrar position offers an exceptional opportunity to advance your career in cancer medicine within our established oncology department at Mayo University Hospital. You’ll work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive cancer care services to patients across the HSE West region, reporting to senior oncology consultants and collaborating with specialist nursing and allied health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive oncology care to cancer patients including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management
  • Deliver specialized chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments under consultant supervision within the oncology department
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and tumor board discussions for optimal patient care coordination
  • Conduct oncology outpatient clinics and manage inpatient cancer medicine consultations
  • Support emergency oncology presentations and provide on-call coverage as part of the medical team
  • Engage in continuous professional development through departmental teaching sessions and oncology training programs
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Medical Council of Ireland (IMC) registration – active and in good standing
  • 2+ years specialist oncology experience in hospital or clinical setting
  • Membership examination progress in relevant medical specialty (MRCPI, MRCP, or equivalent)
  • Valid immigration permissions to work in Ireland without restriction
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – current and valid
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification – current and valid

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional oncology subspecialty training or certification
  • Experience with systemic anti-cancer therapy administration
  • Research experience in cancer medicine or clinical trials
  • Valid OET/IELTS certification for international candidates
  • Previous Irish healthcare system experience
