Job Overview
The Ophthalmology Senior House Officer Waterford position at University Hospital Waterford offers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical expertise within a busy and progressive ophthalmology service. Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical assessment and management of ophthalmology patients under consultant supervision.
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and theatre sessions as required.
- Assist in ophthalmic procedures and minor surgical interventions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
- Participate in on-call and rota commitments in line with service requirements.
- Collaborate with nursing, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
- Engage in continuous professional development and mandatory training.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility to register.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in ophthalmology.
- Previous hospital experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale (February 2026): €54,745 – €74,874 per annum (Senior House Officer scale, point dependent)
- Fixed Term Wholetime contract.
