St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin, is a leading acute care facility within the HSE Dublin and South East region. We are seeking a dedicated Registrar for our specialized Injuries Unit to join our dynamic medical team in this Specified Purpose Wholetime position starting January 13, 2026.
About the Role
This Registrar position in our Injuries Unit offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in trauma and emergency medicine within a supportive hospital environment. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing acute care to patients with various injuries, reporting to senior medical staff while gaining valuable experience in specialized emergency care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical assessment and treatment to patients presenting to the Injuries Unit
- Participate in the acute management of trauma patients and emergency medical conditions
- Conduct thorough clinical examinations and develop appropriate treatment plans for injury-related presentations
- Collaborate with senior medical staff, nursing teams, and allied health professionals in patient care delivery
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with HSE standards and clinical governance requirements
- Participate in on-call rotas and provide emergency medical coverage as required
- Engage in continuous professional development and participate in departmental teaching and training programs
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Primary medical degree recognized by the Irish Medical Council
- Full registration with the Irish Medical Council
- Minimum 2-3 years postgraduate medical experience with relevant emergency medicine or acute care background
- Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine, trauma care, and acute patient assessment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient care and multidisciplinary team working
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in emergency medicine, trauma, or acute medical specialties
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification
- Experience with electronic health records systems
- Interest in pursuing emergency medicine or related specialty training
- Additional qualifications in emergency or acute care medicine
