Letterkenny University Hospital is seeking a Senior House Officer (SHO) in Oncology to join its dynamic medical team. This fixed-term wholetime opportunity offers hands-on clinical experience in oncology services within a busy acute hospital setting. The Senior House Officer Oncology Letterkenny role provides excellent exposure to multidisciplinary cancer care and professional development within the public health service.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality medical care to oncology patients under consultant supervision
• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary meetings
• Assess, diagnose, and manage oncology patients in line with best practice
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Collaborate with nursing and allied health professionals
• Participate in on-call rotas as required
• Contribute to clinical audits and service improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in the General Division or eligibility to register
• Previous experience in medicine; oncology experience desirable
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to patient-centred care
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Senior House Officer (Grade Code 1012) pay scale, ranging from €54,203 to €74,133 per annum (effective 1 August 2025)
