Cork University Hospital is seeking a Senior Library Assistant (Grade V) to join the National HSE Library Service within Research & Evidence. This Senior Library Assistant Cork opportunity offers a permanent 0.6 WTE role, with a panel formed for future full-time and part-time vacancies nationally.
This position plays a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality library, research, and evidence services within a dynamic academic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional library and information services to healthcare staff.
- Support literature searching, evidence synthesis, and research enquiries.
- Maintain and manage library systems, digital resources, and catalogues.
- Assist with training and user support for library platforms and databases.
- Support research and academic initiatives within the HSE Library Service.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and national standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Library & Information Studies or equivalent.
- Experience in a library, academic, or healthcare information setting.
- Strong IT skills, including experience with library management systems and databases.
- Excellent research, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Grade V (0566) – HSE Clerical & Administrative Scale.
