Job Overview
This Senior Medical Scientist Histology role in Dublin North is ideal for a skilled laboratory professional with strong experience in histopathology processes. You will support diagnostic services by ensuring accurate specimen handling, advanced staining techniques, and collaboration with pathologists, contributing directly to patient care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform histology specimen processing including labelling, embedding, sectioning, and slide preparation
- Assist and lead cut-up procedures alongside pathologists
- Carry out frozen sectioning and slide issuing
- Conduct routine and specialised tissue staining procedures
- Operate and manage automated immunohistochemistry systems
- Process cytology specimens in line with laboratory protocols
- Maintain high standards of quality control and laboratory compliance
- Support continuous service improvement and best practice initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Medical Science or Biomedical Science
- Registration with CORU or eligibility for registration
- Extensive experience in histology laboratory procedures
- Strong knowledge of immunohistochemistry and staining techniques
- Experience in cytology specimen processing
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
