Job Overview
The Health Service Executive is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist Dublin for a permanent wholetime position within the National Forensic Mental Health Service (NFMHS), Dublin North. This is a senior-grade opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to contribute to specialist forensic mental health services and support recovery-focused, person-centred care in a secure clinical setting.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will play a key role in assessment, intervention planning, service development, and clinical leadership within a highly specialised environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced occupational therapy assessment and intervention for service users within a forensic mental health setting.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic programmes that promote recovery, independence, and community reintegration.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students as required.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and policy implementation.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and risk management processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for CORU registration.
- Significant post-qualification experience, including relevant senior-level clinical experience.
- Experience working in mental health or forensic settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership capabilities.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.

- Salary aligned with HSE Occupational Therapist – Senior (Grade 3301) pay scale, in accordance with February 2026 consolidated public sector pay rates.
