Letterkenny University Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Pharmacist to join its dynamic pharmacy team. This permanent wholetime opportunity offers an excellent career pathway within the HSE West and North West region.
The Senior Pharmacist Letterkenny University Hospital role is central to delivering safe, effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care across a busy acute hospital setting in Donegal.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical pharmacy services across designated hospital departments.
- Ensure safe and effective dispensing, supply, and management of medicines.
- Supervise and support pharmacy staff, including junior pharmacists and technicians.
- Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and clinical decision-making.
- Contribute to medicines management initiatives and quality improvement programmes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and HSE guidelines.
- Support audit, risk management, and medication safety activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
- Have relevant post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience.
- Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to lead and support pharmacy team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in audit, quality improvement, and medicines optimisation is desirable.

- Salary aligned with HSE Senior Pharmacist (Grade 3239) pay scale, in accordance with February 2026 consolidated public sector salary scales.
