The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking applications for the role of Senior Physiotherapist at the new Surgical Hub in Swords, Dublin North. This permanent, whole-time position offers an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to patients in the Dublin and North East health region.

About the Role

This senior physiotherapy role focuses on musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and post-surgical rehabilitation within an acute hospital outpatient setting. The successful candidate will provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment, supporting patients through their surgical recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist physiotherapy care for musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, plastics, urology, gynaecology, and post-surgical patients.
  • Undertake advanced clinical assessment and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider surgical hub multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to patient discharge planning and continuity of care.
  • Support junior staff and physiotherapy students through supervision and mentorship.
  • Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation and contribute to audit/research where required.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
  • Significant post-graduate experience in musculoskeletal/orthopaedic and post-surgical physiotherapy within an acute hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in outpatient and post-surgical rehabilitation.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD activity within the past 3 years relevant to musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, plastics, urology, gynaecology, or post-surgical physiotherapy.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a surgical hub or similar rapid-access care environment.
  • Knowledge of HSE service development initiatives in acute hospital outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Skills in clinical audit, service evaluation, or research.
