The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is seeking an experienced Services Supervisor to join our Facilities Department at University Hospital Limerick. This is a specified purpose, whole-time position managing hygiene and catering services across our acute healthcare facilities.
About the Role
The Services Supervisor will oversee critical facilities operations including hygiene services and catering management at University Hospital Limerick. Reporting to senior facilities management, you’ll ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and service delivery in our busy hospital environment. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff across HSE Mid West’s acute services.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of hygiene services and catering staff across assigned departments
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, HACCP protocols, and infection prevention and control guidelines
- Monitor service quality, conduct regular inspections, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Manage staff rosters, work schedules, and resource allocation to maintain optimal service levels
- Liaise with clinical teams, facilities management, and external contractors to coordinate service delivery
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to service improvement initiatives
- Lead staff training, development, and performance management within the facilities team
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in healthcare facilities, hospitality, or similar environment
- Strong understanding of hygiene standards, infection control, and food safety management
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced operational setting
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in staff scheduling, resource planning, and performance monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- HACCP certification or relevant food safety qualification
- Experience in acute hospital or healthcare facility management
- Knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Certificate or diploma in facilities management, hospitality, or related discipline
