Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is seeking dedicated Social Care Workers to join our Disability Services team in Galway City. We have 6 positions available (4 permanent full-time, 2 temporary full-time) offering meaningful careers supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.
About the Role
As a Social Care Worker in Disability Services, you will provide person-centered support to adults with intellectual disabilities in residential and community settings. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote independence, social inclusion, and quality of life for the individuals we support across our Galway services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in accordance with their Person-Centered Plans
- Facilitate community integration activities and social opportunities to promote independence and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of support provided and progress achieved by service users
- Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and other agencies to ensure comprehensive care delivery
- Support individuals with daily living skills including personal care, medication management, and household activities
- Advocate for service users’ rights and choices while maintaining their dignity and promoting self-determination
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and professional development to maintain high standards of care
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Level 7/8 qualification in Social Care or related discipline (Social Studies, Applied Social Studies, etc.)
- Minimum 1-2 years experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred
- Understanding of person-centered planning and disability rights frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse populations
- Current Garda Vetting clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Full clean driving license and access to own transport for community-based work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential disability services or community support roles
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations in care settings
- Training in medication administration, manual handling, or behavioral support
- Additional qualifications in disability studies, psychology, or healthcare
