University Hospital Waterford is seeking a qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering excellent career development opportunities within the HSE Dublin and South East region.

About the Role

This Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist position provides an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients at University Hospital Waterford. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team, contributing to patient assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions across various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated patient care
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with professional standards
  • Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to service development and the implementation of best practice guidelines

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Eligible for registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
  • Current CORU registration or ability to obtain registration prior to appointment
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an acute hospital setting
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications or specialist training in relevant areas
  • Experience with specific patient populations or clinical specialties
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in speech and language therapy
