University Hospital Waterford is seeking a qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering excellent career development opportunities within the HSE Dublin and South East region.
About the Role
This Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist position provides an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients at University Hospital Waterford. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team, contributing to patient assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions across various clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Provide therapeutic interventions for patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated patient care
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with professional standards
- Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to service development and the implementation of best practice guidelines
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Eligible for registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
- Current CORU registration or ability to obtain registration prior to appointment
- Demonstrated clinical competence in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an acute hospital setting
- Additional postgraduate qualifications or specialist training in relevant areas
- Experience with specific patient populations or clinical specialties
- Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in speech and language therapy
