Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse Sligo University Hospital candidate to join its Surgical team on a permanent wholetime basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive acute hospital environment delivering high-quality patient care.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence, safety, and patient-centred surgical services across HSE West and North West.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to surgical patients
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ensure adherence to HSE policies, procedures and clinical standards
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support patient education and discharge planning
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with active NMBI registration
• Experience in an acute surgical setting desirable
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse (General) Grade 2135 pay scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) .
Staff Nurse (General) salary scale (1 August 2025):
€36,919 – €53,389 (incremental scale, subject to service and long service increments)

Working hours are based on a permanent wholetime contract and may include shift work as required in a surgical setting.
