Muiriosa Foundation, a leading Section 38 organization providing exceptional intellectual disability services, is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse (RNID) to join our Adult Residential Services team in Laois. About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in our Intellectual Disability Services, you’ll work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team that champions positive risk management, social inclusion, and person-centered care. This role focuses on supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in residential settings, ensuring their healthcare needs are met while promoting their independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities in residential settings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, therapists, and support staff
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on residents’ needs and preferences
- Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records
- Monitor residents’ health conditions and report changes to appropriate healthcare professionals
- Support residents in accessing community healthcare services and appointments
- Promote positive risk management strategies that enhance residents’ independence and choice
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with NMBI as a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID)
- Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in intellectual disability nursing
- Strong understanding of person-centered care principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of current legislation and best practices in intellectual disability services
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in adult residential services for people with intellectual disabilities
- Additional training in medication management or clinical skills
- Familiarity with Section 38 service delivery models
- Commitment to continued professional development
