Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading Section 38 organization providing comprehensive intellectual disability services across Ireland. We are seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our team in Galway City, delivering specialized care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a permanent wholetime capacity.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as either a Staff Nurse – Intellectual Disability or Enhanced Nurse (Intellectual Disability) within our specialized intellectual disability services. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to providing person-centered care and promoting independence for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities across various care settings
  • Develop and implement person-centered care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Administer medications and monitor health conditions specific to intellectual disability care
  • Support individuals in developing life skills and promoting independence in daily activities
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to ensure continuity of care and support
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and crisis intervention when required

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with NMBI as a Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse (RIDN) or General Nurse
  • Minimum 2 years experience in intellectual disability or related healthcare settings
  • Strong communication skills for working with individuals with diverse support needs
  • Knowledge of person-centered approaches and best practices in intellectual disability care
  • Current manual handling certification and willingness to undertake additional training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in intellectual disability or related field
  • Experience with behavioral support strategies and positive behavior approaches
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and adult protection procedures
  • Previous experience in Section 38 organizations or disability service providers
