St. Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our specialized Neonatal Unit. This is a permanent wholetime position offering excellent career development opportunities within the HSE Dublin and South East region.
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in our Neonatal Unit, you will provide specialized nursing care to newborn infants requiring additional medical attention and support. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment while developing expertise in neonatal nursing care within one of Ireland’s leading regional hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to neonates in accordance with best practice guidelines and hospital protocols
- Monitor and assess the condition of newborn infants, recognizing and responding to changes in their clinical status
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation of all nursing interventions
- Support and educate parents and families on newborn care, creating a compassionate and supportive environment
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team including neonatologists, midwives, and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate patient records using hospital information systems and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of neonatal nursing services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered General Nurse
- Eligibility for registration on the General Division of the Register maintained by NMBI
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to neonatal nursing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous neonatal nursing experience (desirable)
- Postgraduate qualification or specialist training in neonatal intensive care
- Experience working in acute hospital settings
- Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and specialized care interventions
