This Staff Nurse – Operating Theatre position in Dublin offers a permanent full-time opportunity to join our dedicated surgical team.
About the Role
This Operating Theatre Staff Nurse role involves working within our state-of-the-art surgical department, ensuring the highest quality perioperative nursing care. You’ll assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to the highest professional and ethical standards while contributing to a caring, creative environment within our Operating Theatre unit. The position reports to the Directorate Nurse Manager and offers excellent opportunities for professional development in theatre nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional perioperative nursing care throughout all phases of surgical procedures
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans in the operating theatre environment
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during surgical procedures
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary theatre teams
- Ensure safe preparation and positioning of patients for various surgical interventions
- Monitor and document patient responses during perioperative care phases
- Participate in theatre equipment maintenance, stock management, and quality assurance initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
- Minimum 1-2 years post-registration nursing experience
- Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Operating Theatre or perioperative nursing experience
- Post-registration qualification in theatre/perioperative nursing
- Advanced Life Support certification
- Experience with electronic patient record systems
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
