Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism across Ireland. We are currently seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Disability Services team in Miltown Malbay, Clare, on a permanent part-time basis.
About the Role
This Support Worker position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and autism in our Miltown Malbay service. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centered support, enabling individuals to achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives within their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism in line with their person-centered plans
- Assist with daily living activities including personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks
- Support community integration by facilitating access to local amenities, social activities, and employment opportunities
- Maintain accurate documentation of support provided, incidents, and progress toward individual goals
- Collaborate effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and other team members to ensure coordinated care
- Implement positive behavior support strategies and promote the rights, dignity, and independence of service users
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent education qualification
- Minimum 6 months experience in healthcare, social care, or disability services (training provided for suitable candidates)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build rapport with vulnerable adults
- Physical ability to assist with personal care and mobility support
- Full clean driving license with access to own vehicle (essential for community-based role)
Preferred Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 certification in Healthcare Support, Disability Studies, or related field
- Previous experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or autism
- Training in manual handling, medication administration, or positive behavior support
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and rights-based approaches to disability services
