As Team Leader in our Disability Services, you will play a crucial leadership role in delivering exceptional person-centered support to service users in Galway City. Key Responsibilities
As Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and supervising a team of social care workers to deliver high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Coordinating daily operations within the residential service, ensuring all activities align with individual support plans and organizational policies
- Developing and implementing individualized support plans in collaboration with service users, families, and the multidisciplinary team
- Managing rosters and staff deployment to ensure appropriate staffing levels and continuity of care
- Monitoring and evaluating service delivery to ensure compliance with HIQA standards and best practice guidelines
- Supporting staff development through mentoring, supervision, and performance management
- Managing incidents and safeguarding concerns in accordance with organizational policies and HSE guidelines
- Building positive relationships with service users, families, external professionals, and community partners
- Maintaining accurate records and reports in line with regulatory requirements
- Promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and rights-based practice within the service
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to service development
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Social Care or a related discipline (Social Studies, Applied Social Studies, Social Science)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in disability services, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team leader capacity
- In-depth knowledge of person-centered planning and rights-based approaches
- Strong understanding of HIQA standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with proven ability to motivate and support staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding adults and children protection procedures
- Full clean driving license (Manual) and access to own transport
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice
- Flexibility to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends, and occasional night duty as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant field (Leadership, Social Care Management, Disability Studies)
- Experience implementing positive behavior support strategies
- Training in Manual Handling, First Aid, and Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA)
- Knowledge of assistive technology and communication supports
- Experience working with individuals with complex needs or dual diagnosis
- Previous experience in quality assurance or service auditing
