University Hospital Waterford is seeking a Temporary Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician to join its senior medical team. This is a high-impact consultant role providing specialist gastroenterology services alongside general internal medicine within a busy Model 4 hospital. The post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to acute care delivery, service development, and clinical leadership within the HSE.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality consultant-led gastroenterology and general medical care
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient, and endoscopy services
• Provide on-call consultant cover in line with hospital rosters
• Lead and support multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
• Support teaching and supervision of NCHDs and trainees
• Engage in service planning and development initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Gastroenterology
• Demonstrable experience at consultant level in gastroenterology and general medicine
• Eligibility to work in Ireland without restriction
• Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and team-working abilities
• Commitment to patient safety, governance, and continuous improvement
