University Hospital Waterford is seeking a highly skilled Temporary Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join its dynamic Emergency Department team. This Temporary Consultant in Emergency Medicine Waterford position is ideal for an experienced emergency medicine specialist committed to clinical excellence, patient safety, and service development in a busy acute hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-led emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Lead and supervise multidisciplinary clinical teams within the Emergency Department.
- Ensure safe, timely, and evidence-based patient management.
- Participate in on-call rotas and emergency response services as required.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support teaching, training, and supervision of NCHDs and other healthcare staff.
- Engage in service planning and continuous improvement activities within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a specialist in Emergency Medicine with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility for same.
- Significant post-graduate experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Proven leadership and clinical decision-making skills in an acute care setting.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, clinical governance, and best practice.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
