University Hospital Waterford is recruiting a Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar to join its surgical team on a fixed-term whole-time contract. This role offers structured training, high clinical exposure, and the opportunity to work within a busy regional trauma service. The position is suitable for both HSE and non-HSE applicants seeking advanced registrar-level experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality clinical care to trauma and orthopaedic patients
• Participate in emergency and elective orthopaedic services
• Support consultant-led ward rounds, theatres, and outpatient clinics
• Contribute to on-call and rota commitments in line with NCHD requirements
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Engage in audit, teaching, and continuous professional development
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility to register
• Relevant experience in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery at registrar level
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at the time of appointment
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and training
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: HSE Registrar salary scale (Medical & Dental Grade Registrar)
• Indicative range (Aug 2025 scale): €68,891 – €81,126 per annum, depending on experience
• Contract: Fixed Term, Wholetime
