General Practitioner (GMS Scheme) – Primary Care – Johnstown / Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny | HSE Dublin & South East

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for two General Practitioner (GMS Scheme) positions based in Johnstown and Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny. These permanent, wholetime roles are offered under the General Medical Services (GMS) Contract for Service, providing essential primary care to the local community within the HSE Dublin and South East region.

About the Role

As a General Practitioner, you will deliver high-quality medical services under the GMS Scheme, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, and community well-being. The posts operate under a GMS Contract, serving patients registered within the Johnstown and Urlingford practice areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care in line with the General Medical Services Scheme.
  • Diagnose, manage, and treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Deliver preventive health services, including immunisations and health promotion.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary primary care teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HSE standards.
  • Participate in practice audits, quality assurance, and continuing professional development.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration as a General Practitioner with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
  • Eligibility to hold a GMS Contract under HSE guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in primary care or community health.
  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a HSE or public primary care setting.
  • Interest in chronic disease management and community-based health initiatives.
