A permanent, full-time General Practitioner position is now available in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow, offered by HSE Dublin and Midlands. This is a rare opportunity for a vocationally trained GP to establish a long-term community practice in a well-served rural setting in County Wicklow, with a provisional start date of 1 September 2026.

The Role
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive primary care services to the local population in Baltinglass and its surrounding catchment area. This is a permanent wholetime post contracted under the GMS framework, offering the stability of a long-term HSE engagement combined with the autonomy of independent practice.
The GP will be responsible for delivering patient-centred care across the full spectrum of general practice, including chronic disease management, preventative care, acute presentations, and ongoing patient relationships within a defined list. The role demands strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the health and wellbeing of the local community.
Key Requirements
- Completion of a recognised Vocational Training Scheme — evidence must be provided at the point of application.
- Documentary evidence of English language proficiency, submitted with your application.
- Ability to establish and maintain your own GP premises in or near the Baltinglass locality in advance of the start date.
- Registration with the Medical Council of Ireland, or eligibility to register.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement in primary care.

Salary
Competitive pay. Remuneration is in accordance with GMS contract terms as agreed with the HSE.
