Grade VI Finance Officer – Sligo | HSE West & North West

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service, providing comprehensive healthcare services across the country. We are seeking an experienced Grade VI Finance Officer to join our Disability Services team in Sligo, offering a permanent full-time position in a dynamic healthcare environment.

About the Role

This Grade VI Finance position focuses on financial management within our Disability Services division in Sligo/Leitrim. You will play a crucial role in financial reporting, analysis, and stakeholder management while supporting our mission to deliver quality healthcare services to people with disabilities in the West and North West region.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive financial reports within strict deadlines for senior management and external stakeholders
• Analyze and report on financial and non-financial information including pay data, staff numbers, agency hours, and HR metrics
• Collaborate effectively with multiple senior internal and external stakeholders across the healthcare system
• Supervise and mentor finance team members, providing guidance and support for professional development
• Utilize advanced Finance IT systems including SAP HR, Power BI, and Sharepoint for data management
• Create detailed financial analysis using advanced Microsoft Excel features including Pivot tables, Power Pivot, and Power Query
• Support budget planning and monitoring processes for disability services operations
• Ensure compliance with HSE financial policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Relevant third-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Significant experience in financial reporting and analysis within a complex organization
• Proven track record of meeting tight deadline requirements for financial reports
• Demonstrated experience supervising and managing staff members
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, Power Pivot, Power Query)
• Experience with finance IT systems such as SAP HR, Power BI, Bex Payroll, or IFMs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working within the healthcare sector or public service
• Knowledge of HSE financial systems and procedures
• Experience in disability services or community healthcare settings
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups in healthcare environment
