HSE South West is recruiting a Grade VIII (Grád VIII) Business Manager for the Office of the Integrated Healthcare Area (IHA) Lead for Disability Services & Mental Health, based in Cork. This is a pivotal management and administration role supporting the delivery of disability and mental health services across the HSE South West region.

Role Overview

This Grade VIII post provides managerial and administrative support to the Office of the IHA Lead for Disability Services and Mental Health, supporting service delivery across HSE South West in line with statutory requirements, resource allocation and service plan targets. The role encompasses both managerial and administrative responsibilities at the heart of the Integrated Healthcare Area structure, and will evolve as the structures within the Healthcare Area are further developed and established.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient, effective and safe delivery of Disability and Mental Health services for patients and clients, within national and IHA frameworks and available resources.
  • Ensure Disability and Mental Health services are delivered to the highest standards within available resources.
  • Provide leadership for the Administration Office of the IHA Lead.
  • Ensure efficient interactions between the Office of the IHA Lead and other key offices in HSE South West, National HSE offices, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead on designated scopes of work assigned by the IHA Lead, including committees, work streams and projects.
  • Provide leadership to staff in delivering services consistent with the new model of care, ensuring an integrated service for patients and clients.
  • Support clinical leadership in the delivery and governance of integrated service provision, ensuring safety and quality of service.

  • A relevant third-level qualification in business, healthcare management, public administration or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • A minimum of three years’ management experience in a complex healthcare, public sector, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, resource and financial management, and supporting service planning.
  • Sound knowledge of HSE structures, governance arrangements, and statutory requirements relevant to disability and mental health services.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.

Salary

€83,911 – €101,207 per annum (HSE Grade VIII scale, 7-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. No Long Service Increments apply to this scale.

Location

This post is based in Cork, within the Office of the IHA Lead for Disability Services and Mental Health, covering the HSE South West region (Cork and Kerry). The post holder will work at the centre of an evolving Integrated Healthcare Area structure, liaising closely with clinical and administrative leadership across the region as well as National HSE offices and external stakeholders.

Contract Type

Permanent, whole-time. One permanent whole-time vacancy is currently available. A panel may be formed from this campaign for Grade VIII Business Manager, Office of the IHA Lead within the South West Region, from which current and future permanent and specified-purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled. This campaign will be used to fill the listed post only; once the post is filled, the candidate pool will be disbanded.
