Cork University Hospital (CUH) is currently seeking a Health Care Assistant (Grade 6075) to join its dedicated patient and client care team within the HSE South West region. This permanent, wholetime position plays a key role in supporting nursing and clinical teams in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to patients in one of Ireland’s leading acute hospitals.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will provide essential support to patients with their daily needs, assist nursing staff in maintaining a safe and caring environment, and contribute to the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, mobility, and comfort needs.
- Support nurses and clinicians in the implementation of care plans.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection prevention standards in patient areas.
- Record and report observations on patients’ conditions to nursing staff.
- Contribute to the smooth running of hospital wards and clinical units.
- Adhere to HSE policies on health and safety, dignity at work, and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent) is required.
- Previous experience in a hospital or residential care setting is desirable.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing patient-centred care.

Salary (Grade 6075 – Health Care Assistant, as per DoH Circular 6/2025):
€33,013 – €41,074 per annum (based on August 2025 pay scales, including 1% increase).
