Job Overview
The successful Health Care Assistant will work closely with the nursing team to provide daily support and quality care to residents at St. Phelim’s Nursing Home in Dromahair. The role involves assisting residents with personal care needs while promoting comfort, wellbeing, privacy, and independence within a professional residential care setting.
This is a permanent full-time position based on 39 hours per week with excellent opportunities for training, development, and career progression within the elderly care sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care to residents in accordance with individual care plans
- Assist residents with daily living activities including mobility and personal care
- Promote dignity, privacy, independence, and wellbeing for all residents
- Support the nursing team in delivering high-quality residential care services
- Create a caring and supportive environment for elderly residents
- Maintain professional communication with residents, families, and colleagues
- Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff
- Follow all health, safety, safeguarding, and infection control procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous healthcare assistant experience is desirable
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassionate, caring, and patient-focused approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to participate in training and professional development
- Eligibility to work in Ireland
- Role is subject to Garda vetting and reference checks
